Elizabeth Betty Funkhouser

Elizabeth Betty Funkhouser, 74, of Herrin, died at 7:35 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2003 at Herrin Hospital.
Betty was born on December 14, 1928 in Du Quoin to Paul and Goldie Marie (Jackson) Cavitt. She married Clarence D. Funkhouser on March 12, 1949 in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1998.
Mrs. Funkhouser was a homemaker and a member of the Second Baptist Church of Herrin.
Survivors include a daughter and son in-law, Marlene and Ron Whitecotton of Herrin; one grandson and wife, Shawn and Teresa Whitecotton of Herrin; one granddaughter and husband, Sherry and Bob Burns of Murphysboro; six great-grandchildren, Raea Dawn Whitecotton of Herrin, Colten Whitecotton of Herrin, Braden Whitecotton of Herrin, Trent Brothers of Murphysboro, Jake Burns of Murphysboro, and Caitlynn Burns of Murphysboro; brother and sister in-law, Paul and Mary Cavitt, Jr of Dowell;  sister in-laws -  Rosemary Cavitt of Chicago, Cleo Violet Hagston of Du Quoin and Cuma Belle O'Keefe of Du Quoin; sister in-law and brother in-law, Elizabeth Jane and R.J. Ginn of Du Quoin, sister in-law and brother in-law, Rose Ellen and Joe Cicardi of Pinckneyville; and brother in-law and sister in-law, Edward Spencer and Karen Funkhouser of Anna.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, stepfather, Willard Hottes, and one brother, Robert Cavitt.
The funeral service were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Revs. Brad Harlow and Ralph Brandon will officiate. Burial followed at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, at the funeral home.
